Rotork electric actuators at Hong Kong sewage plantOliver Valves secure £890k order for valves in Alloy 625
Rotork IQ actuators have been installed at a sewage pumping station in Hong Kong. They were upgraded from older manual-operated valves to electric actuators with intelligent functionality built in.
Nearly 50 actuators have been installed to operate the valves; The intelligent IQ actuators are ideally suited to pumping station applications due to their robust environmental sealing. They have a double-sealed enclosure (IP66/68) and are therefore ideally suited for water applications.
This project included the construction of an underground sewage balancing tank with a capacity of 16,000 cubic metres, a plant house with a ventilation system, and improved deodorising facilities. These changes will increase the amount of sewage and wastewater that the site can process, as well as ensure there is no excess flow of treated wastewater.
Hitork actuators in Indonesia PU water treatment project
Hitork electric actuator multi-turn series entered the PU project in Indonesia for the first time, and this project has a high requirement for the number of turns of the actuator, which can reach 3000 turns.
The torque required to open and close the valve determines the output torque of the electric actuator, which is generally proposed by the user or selected by the valve manufacturer. As the actuator manufacturer, it is only responsible for the output torque of the actuator, which is required for the normal opening and closing of the valve. The torque of the specification valve is also different. When the torque selection of the actuator is too small, it will cause the valve to be unable to open and close normally. Therefore, the electric actuator must choose a reasonable torque range.
The mismatch with the parameters of the electric actuator causes the faults such as the tripping of the space opener, the fuse blowing, and the thermal overload relay protection tripping during operation.
Oliver Valves wins multiple project packages
Oliver Valves won multiple project packages on the North Field Production Sustainability (NFPS) project. Since 2021, Oliver’s has been working closely with digital control system suppliers on the project to offer specialised engineering support and guidance, in particular around Pressure Transmitter Manifold Bids. Many factors are key to building a successful working partnership and one core strength of Oliver Valves is their well-versed knowledge of project specifications in the region, and this proved invaluable and instilled confidence in the supplier’s team to go on to win the bids.
The project, which is one of the world’s largest natural gas fields, is situated off the north-east coast of the Qatar peninsula. There are two complexes that make up the project, which include two fixed steel jacket compression platforms, interconnecting bridges, interface modules, and living quarters.
Oliver Valves wins another order by a Polish compressor manufacturer to be their main supplier of Double Block and Bleed Valves. This agreement includes the scope of supply for stainless steel valves ranging from ½” to 2” with a pressure rating of up to 1500lb. A large number of valves will be used on a new Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export facility in Canada the Woodfibre LNG project.
Schubert & Salzer Group celebrates 140th anniversary
Two young locksmiths rent out a backyard workshop and begin with the production of hosiery knitting machines. Their legacy the Schubert & Salzer Group known among other things for high-tech control and stop valves, is celebrating its 140th anniversary.
Ingolstadt. Carl Schubert and Bruno Salzer were just 20 years old when they founded their own company and began with the manufacture of textile machines. Within a short time, their products enjoyed a fabulous reputation, as a result of which the machine manufacturers’ product range grew just as quickly as the company itself. Soon, cash registers, bicycles, and valves were also being manufactured.
On its 140th anniversary, Schubert & Salzer now wants to go one step further and systematically measure and continuously reduce its CO2 emissionsctuators. The ROMpak units replaced existing underperforming actuators to operate butterfly valves, controlling the flow of hot air at the heart of the glass manufacturing process.
Grundfos achieved record turnover in 2022
Despite turbulent market conditions, Grundfos has reported a strong performance in 2022 with sales growth of 12.1%, net turnover at a record DKK33.3 billion and earnings (EBIT before special items) reaching DKK3.9 billion.
Grundfos achieved strong sales growth in key markets, including the US, Germany and the UK, which contributed to a 2022 global growth of 16.2%, adjusted for lost sales in Russia and Belarus. During 2022, Grundfos closed its business in Russia and Belarus incurring a one-off restructuring expense of DKK851 million.
2022 was a year with historic market turbulence including the Russian invasion of Ukraine, continued impact of Covid-19, bottlenecks in global supply chains, rising energy prices, high inflationary pressure and significant currency swings.
Xylem to acquire Evoqua in US$7.5bn deal
Xylem Inc has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Evoqua Water Technologies Corp, the water treatment solutions and services company, in a US$7.5 billion all-stock transaction.
Evoqua complements Xylem’s portfolio of solutions with advanced water and wastewater treatment capabilities, an extensive service network and access to a number of attractive industrial markets including life sciences, microelectronics, power and food and beverage. The company is also a leader in the remediation of emerging contaminants, including PFAS.
