Radix gets R$49m contract from Petrobras
Radix Engineering and Software has closed a R$49M (approx. USD 9.5M) contract with Petrobras to develop and maintain scientific software focused on Well Engineering and Subsea Engineering. Radix will develop software for two lots of subsea and one lot of wells, marking its return to large contracts with Petrobras. The partnership will last for three years, extendable for an additional two years.
The market forecast for oil and gas wells and subsea operations is very positive, particularly in Brazil. New initiatives are being launched to drill new wells, well plugging, and decommissioning. Companies are also launching innovative projects to add new equipment installation on the seabed, which will require players to be very efficient and controlled in their operations to minimized operational and environmental risks.
Emerson makes strategic investment in Spearix
Emerson (EMR) has made a strategic investment through Emerson Ventures, its corporate venture capital arm, in Spearix Technologies, Inc., whose adaptive, multi-core radio processor provides a system-level solution for Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) wireless communication. Through the investment and Emerson Ventures’ value-add strategic investment approach, Emerson will support Spearix’s technology and early stage growth while expanding upon its own IIoT capabilities. Emerson Ventures is the first corporate or institutional investor to make an investment in Spearix. In conjunction with the investment, Emerson has also entered into an engineering collaboration agreement with Spearix.
Based in Cedar Park, Texas, Spearix’s primary product offering is a multi-core radio processor and associated software that adapts to optimize performance and power based on measured environmental conditions. The technology has been shown to greatly improve the connection reliability of industrial protocols while operating under heavy interference induced by high-power, high-bandwidth pervasive Wi-Fi operation.
China Purchased 3 Millionth Emerson Digital Valve Controller
Emerson has announced that a customer in China has recently purchased the 3 millionth Fisher™ FIELDVUE™ digital valve controller for use in the water treatment pressure control valve in their membrane plant. A digital valve controller helps regulate and monitor the opening and closing of a control valve, and it also provides a wealth of information with respect to valve status and health. This is a significant milestone for Emerson
