Aira to invest £300mn in UK heat pump market
Swedish clean energy-tech company Aira has launched in the UK with a pledge to invest £300 million in the next three years to accelerate decarbonisation. The UK government’s mission is to increase heat pump uptake to 600,000 installations a year by 2028 to reduce the nation’s reliance on imported fossil fuels.
Aira’s ambition is to help one million UK customers switch from gas boilers to a clean energy-tech solution over the next decade. Aira’s clean energy-tech solutions include intelligent heat pumps, solar panels, battery storage, and electricity tariffs.
Atlas Copco acquired of Australia’s Sykes Group
Sykes is a global manufacturer of dewatering pumps, predominantly used for transferring water with solids and abrasive nature within the mining and wastewater sectors. The Sykes business is now part of Atlas Copco’s Power and Flow Division within the Power Technique Business Area. Headquartered in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, Sykes has annual revenues of approximately A$65 million.
Sykes serves the mining and wastewater segments with a wide range of surface dewatering pumps, together with chopper and cutter technologies for wastewater applications. It also has a portfolio of hydraulic submersible pumps.
Voith to equip 2GW hydropower plant in Angola
Voith is supplying all electrical and mechanical equipment for the large-scale Caculo Cabaça hydropower plant in Angola, West Africa.
The order includes the installation of four Francis turbines with an output of 530 MW each, an additional Francis turbine with an output of 52 MW, generators, control and auxiliary systems and a customized training concept.
The Caculo Cabaça hydropower plant, on the Kwanza River around 250 km southeast of Angola’s capital Luanda, is set to be connected to the grid before the end of the decade with a total capacity of 2,172 MW. The pilot tests have been recently completed.
When the power plant is commissioned, around two-thirds of Angolan energy will come from hydropower.
Celeros supply pumps to EDF for nuclear reactor
French energy group EDF has appointed Celeros Flow Technology (Celeros FT) as its preferred supplier of RPE pumps for the upgrade of its existing PWR fleet of nuclear reactors in France. Celeros FT brand ClydeUnion Pumps will design and manufacture the pumps for EDF at its nuclear accredited facility in Annecy.
EDF DIPDE (Division Ingénierie du Parc et De l’Environnement) is responsible for engineering studies and upgrades of the nuclear islands of France’s 56 existing reactors. The contract with Celeros FT relates to upgrades being deployed across all 900 MWe nuclear power plants in line with.
Andritz equipment for Austrian pumped storage power plant
Andritz is to supply the electromechanical equipment for Energie AG’s new Ebensee pumped storage power plant in Austria. The order will see Andritz equip the power plant with a 170-megawatt variable-speed reversible pump turbine, the generator and related automation. Read More …….

Hayward Tyler wins pump contract for Wyoming nuclear project
Hayward Tyler Inc has secured a contract from nuclear innovation company TerraPower for the design and development of primary and intermediate sodium pumps to support the Natrium Reactor Demonstration Project in Wyoming, USA.
The Hayward Tyler pumps will play a vital role in circulating liquid sodium within the primary heat transport system and transferring coolant to the intermediate heat transport system. Read More …….

Amarinth delivers API 610 OH2 pumps for Brazilian FPSO
Amarinth has delivered two large API 610 OH2 pumps to Yinson Production for use aboard the Enauta-commissioned FPSO Atlanta. Yinson Production awarded Amarinth the design and manufacturing order for two API 610 OH2 pumps equipped with Plan 53B Seal Support Systems. Metso slurry pumps for copper and zinc concentrator in Portugal
Metso is supplying key equipment, including pumps, for the upgrade of Almina Minas do Alentejo SA’s copper and zinc concentrator at its mine in Aljustrel, in the Iberian pyrite belt in Portugal.
Metso has now completed the basic engineering of the grinding island. Delivery of the concentrator plant equipment will take place around the end of the second quarter of 2024, with the project expected to be commissioned by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
Atlas Copco to add Kracht to industrial pump portfolio
Atlas Copco Group has agreed to acquire Kracht GmbH, the German manufacturer of external gear pumps, fluid measurement, valves, hydraulic drives, and dosing systems.
The business will become part of the Power and Flow Division within Atlas Copco’s Power Technique business area.
Founded in 1911, Werdhol, Germany-headquartered Kracht has subsidiaries in the US, China and Hungary, and approximately 440 employees. In 2022, Kracht had revenues of around €72 million.
Watts Water To Acquire Bradley Corporation
Watts Water Technologies, Inc. announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Bradley Corporation (“Bradley”) for $303 million, subject to customary adjustments. The net transaction value is approximately $268 million after adjusting for the estimated net present value of expected tax benefits of approximately $35 million.
Bradley is a trusted provider and manufacturer of commercial washroom and emergency safety products serving commercial (primarily institutional) and industrial end markets for over 100 years. Bradley has annual net sales of approximately $200 million.
L&T receives an LoI for a mega order in the Middle East
The Hydrocarbon business (L&T Energy Hydrocarbon – LTEH) of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has received a Letter of Intent for a mega Offshore order from a prestigious client in the Middle East.
