Pleuger celebrates 90th anniversary
Pleuger Industries GmbH, the Hamburg, Germany-based submersible motor pump manufacturer, is marking 90 years in business.The patent on which Pleuger’s submersible pump units are still based dates back to 1929. Friedrich Wilhelm Pleuger, an engineer from Bonn on the Rhine, developed the glandless motor, a groundbreaking alternative to the conventional borehole shaft pumps and piston pumps. Read More …….
Weir wins record £100mn mining order in Australia
The Weir Group has won a £100 million order to provide mining equipment, including pumps, for the Iron Bridge Magnetite Project in Western Australia.Weir says that the order, which includes Enduron high pressure grinding rolls and GEHO pumps, will reduce energy consumption and wet tailings waste by more than 30% compared to traditional mining technologies.The Iron Bridge Magnetite Project is a joint venture between Fortescue Metals Group Ltd subsidiary FMG Magnetite Pty Ltd and Formosa Steel IB Pty Ltd. Delivery of the first ore is expected in 2022.

Gardner Denver Holdings Inc has acquired Oina VV AB, a Swedish company specialising in customised pump solutions for liquid handling processes in medical, process and industrial applications.Stockholm-based Oina will now be part of Gardner Denver’s Medical Segment.
Andritz to provide pumps for Chinese project
Andritz will supply four two-stage vertical pumps for water transport as part of the Shanxi Xiaolangdi Yellow River Diversion Project in China.Each of these pumps will achieve a flow rate of 5 m3 per second over a head of 236 m and operate with an efficiency of over 91%. Franklin expands in filtration
Franklin Electric Co Inc has completed the acquisition of First Sales LLC, an Indiana manufacturer of water treatment and filtration equipment for residential and commercial markets.
In fiscal 2018, First Sales had annual sales of approximately US$14 million. First Sales’ operating results will now be reported in Franklin Electric’s Water Systems segment beginning in the third quarter of 2019.
Voith to provide 60 MW storage pump for Swiss power plant
Voith is to supply two Pelton 60 MW turbines and a 60 MW storage pump for the Ritom pumped storage power plant in Switzerland.The plant, which has been in operation since 1920, is being replaced by a new CHF250 million facility. Read More …….
Bedford Pumps to supply dock pumps
Bedford Pumps Ltd is to provide five pumps for a dock dewatering application at the Port of Casablanca in Morocco.The five high capacity Bedford submersible bowl canister pumps in cast iron materials will be used in two pumping stations. The submersible pumps will be required to drain the dock of its 123 000 m3 volume in less than four hours.
Qatar Sees Significant Rise In Water Project Contracts
Qatar spent an estimated USD 10bn in water projects, the second largest in Mena’s water project market, during the 2011-2018 period. A series of major water projects to construct storage reservoirs, water pipelines, desalination plants, and water treatment plants, led to a boom in water and wastewater projects in Qatar in 2014 and 2015 and contracts worth USD 6.6bn were awarded in these two years.
Adani Power To Acquire GMR Chhattisgarh Energy
Adani Power said that it will acquire GMR Chhattisgarh Energy Ltd (GCEL) as the consortium of lenders has approved its resolution plan. GCEL owns an operational 1.370 megawatt (MW) supercritical thermal power plant in Raikheda, Raipur district, Chhattisgarh. The plant consists of 2 units of 685 MW each, commissioned in June 2015 and April 2016 respectively.
Acquisition of GCEL and Korba West Power Company (KWPCL) will consolidate APL’s position as India’s leading private sector thermal power producer with a combined thermal power capacity of 12,410 MW.

Atlas Copco completes acquisition of Kracht GmbH
Kracht GmbH has officially become part of the Atlas Copco Group.
A manufacturer of several technologies, including external gear pumps, fluid measurement, valves, hydraulic drives, and dosing systems, Kracht joins Atlas Copco with a global footprint.
The company’s headquarters are based in Werdhol, Germany, with its subsidiaries spanning the US, China, and Hungary. Kracht has around 440 employees to operate these locations.
Atlas Copco first announced its intention to acquire Kracht in December 2023. At the time, Andrew Walker, President of Atlas Copco’s power technique business area, said the industrial pump segment would be a strategic fit for the group.
Kracht is now part of the Power and Flow Divisions within Atlas Copco’s power technique business area.
