Emerson awarded $14m automation contract

Emerson has been awarded a USD 14M contract to provide automation technologies for the new Azeri Central East offshore platform in the Caspian Sea, the latest development in the Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli oilfield. Emerson will serve as the main automation contractor, providing its Project Certainty methodologies and digital technologies that transform capital project execution to help BP bring this fast-track project onstream in 2023.
Automation technologies also anticipate safety risks and enable remote monitoring, which reduces exposure of people and extends intervals between major maintenance turnarounds. Wired and wireless networks will connect more than 1,000 Emerson measurement instruments to monitor pressure, flow, temperature, and pipework corrosion. Emerson will also provide all critical control, emergency shutdown, and isolation valves, connected by its digital positioning technology.

PJV awarded two FPSO contracts in Brazil

PJ Valves (PJV), the specialist manufacturer and supplier of valves for the global energy industry, has been awarded two significant FPSO valve contracts for projects in Brazil. The company will manufacture and supply valves packages to both projects in the Santos and Campos basins.
PJV was awarded the contracts by two separate operators due to its customer service and high standard of design, manufacturing, and distribution capabilities. Within the bid process, PJV worked with each client on cost-saving and beneficial engineering enhancements.
PJV will deliver a range of butterfly, ball, globe, and check valves supplied in carbon stainless-steel, super duplex, and Nickel aluminium bronze material. The valves will vary in sizes, with the maximum being 20 inches in diameter and maximum pressure class being 2500, to support the topside processing requirements of the vessel.
PJV has won further work for the Mero 2 FPSO, which will produce 180,000 barrels of oil per day. The company has been contracted to supply six packages of vales for the different topside processes including gas and water services. These will be installed within the 33,000-ton weight of the FPSO topsides. In this case, PJV worked closely with the customer on the operator requirements to meet project specifications and short lead times.

AUMA & Anglian Water sign Service agreement

Since being awarded a sole actuator supply framework in October 2019, AUMA Actuators Limited (AUMA UK), the UK and Ireland electric valve actuation technology company, has worked with Anglian Water to develop a new and unique process to service, maintain and replace a range of actuators throughout the region.
The Service Level Agreement (SLA) gives Anglian Water access to a rapid response service with a three-day turnaround to replace both AUMA and other manufacturers’ equipment and even ‘replacement in advance’ for critical actuators.
The key objective of Anglian Water’s perspective was to maximise the availability of actuated valve operations throughout the region. The size and operating parameters of each installation vary and there are, therefore, many possible combinations of actuators, controls, and drive coupling to have to be available at short notice. AUMA Actuators are ideally suited to this agreement, they are designed using a modular approach so actuator components can be quickly combined to provide a bespoke actuator assembly constructed to the exact requirements of the application.
For critical installations, AUMA goes one step further and offer a ‘Replacement in Advance’ service, where AUMA provides a complete replacement unit in advance of the return of the faulty one.
